A BASIC OVERVIEW OF THE RAMP AUDIO PROGRAM:
Session 4, the last session, is dedicated to activities to get the addicted person off to a running start.
Again the session mentions the journal and how to get it started.
You may use Penzu for an online journal. Again, the free version is more than adequate for your needs.
If you use a word program on your computer you can use TrueCrypt to encrypt your files and DropBox to upload them to the cloud storage to use them on any computer with internet access and TrueCrypt installed.
The journal is so critical to this program. It is a must. Through the journal, trends can be seen. These trends can help you predict times of weakness and give you the chance to be proactive. Being able to predict times of weakness gives the Frontal Lobe a head start and when the Frontal Lobe is geared up and ready it will dominate the Limbic System every time.
Trends can also lead you to those triggers that have beliefs tied to them. You will find 2 or 3 maybe even 4 types of triggers that are not only tied to your emotional state but also have a belief tied to them. A belief you truly believe to be true. The journal can show which triggers have beliefs tied to them.
In the activities session you will write a letter to yourself. This letter is to be a motivation letter. This may sound silly but none the less: if you search within yourself, if you ponder, you will find that you believe freedom from the addiction is possible. Something in you is asleep but is ready to be awaken, with in you is a sleeping giant. With this motivation letter we want to awaken the spiritual giant within you.
The letter should sound something like this YouTube video from the movie Rocky. The movie might be more comedic by today’s standards but a mood of determination should be evident in your letter. Don’t worry about perfection just get the mood on paper and work on it as you go along.
After you finish your letter type up the format below for your journal entries:
Your journal entries can be very simple but should include the date, amount of time during the slip, the type of porn viewed, hard or soft core, which towards the end of the addiction may change to nude and non-nude porn. Also you should include how far along in the RAMP process you got before experiencing a slip. Make sure to note if you finished the RAMP process even if it was completed after the slip. Last in your journal you should have information about the trigger. Remember triggers are two parts which is a TROUBLED feeling and an event that reminds you of the addiction; make sure to narrow down the TROUBLED feeling to a specific feeling. Trigger is the last item in your journal so you can have space to write a small paragraph if need be. So your journal will start off with 6 lines that you can fill in with information:
Date:
Time spent during slip:
Type of porn:
What stage of RAMP did slip occur:
Did you finish RAMP process: yes or no?
Trigger:
There are other activities in this session that are included in the audio. One is to pretend you are given $260,000 that has to be spent (no saving or investing). What would you buy or do with the money? These can give you hints of what hobbies you may like to develop. Hobbies that can be replacement or modifiers to take the place of the addiction. For instance, if you wanted to buy a plane with your fictisous money. Maybe instead you could buy a remote control plane and build it from a kit. This can be a great modifier when your trigger is boredom or if you feel stressed.
Your list of modifying activities should always include exercise. Exercise should never be overlooked as a modifying behavior. Almost any TROUBLED feeling can be affected by exercise. If exercise does not solve the TROUBLED feeling it will most certainly help mitigate it and help another modifying behavior be even more effective. For example, if someone is stress over a test. It would be good to exercise and then go study for the test.
One of the key points for exercising is that it helps pump good chemicals into the brain. Chemicals that happen out of an activity that is healthy and productive. This helps calm the Limbic System. Additionally, exercise helps oxygenate the blood. As discussed early we know that oxygenated blood favors the Frontal Lobe and makes it supercharged and better able to dictate actions to the Limbic System.
Another effective activity is to imagine having a trigger when you really feel perfectly fine. Do this activity in a safe place where you know you will not actually act out your trigger. Then go through the RAMP process from session 3. Have a victory and make sure to praise yourself. Feel the rush of victory over the addiction. This course is bases on success and ignoring failures. So having practices where you have success every time can be very powerful in training the frontal lobes to dominate the limbic system.
Fasting (only for 24 hours if you are able and maybe once a month) can also be powerful in training the frontal lobes to dominate the limbic system.
This is only a brief summary of the RAMP program. To purchase the complete program with more strategies and activities to heal your brain visit iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Google Play. Quit porn addiction for good and live like never before!
Thank you so much for creating RAMP! I am so excited to quit this nasty addiction forever! RAMP has been very effective for me and I believe I’ll be able to quit for good!
It takes time but the brain does learn and one day you’ll feel that the brain has flipped the switch and the addiction will be on the retreat! Keep focusing on the positive, you’re doing great!
Great idea. I that my husband is a SA and, while SAA tinmeegs a few nights/week are helpful, he would like to have support more often and we haven’t had luck with finding online tinmeegs or getting IRC chat rooms to work. I hope you’ll post here when you determine the day/time..
dont worry he will back 4 you
